New pier for Kaubashine being floated over.  Why does the old pier need replacement see the winter blog and see the tree on top of the old pier.  Where is the person who destroyed the old pier and is not helping to fix it…..  hmmm in an RV headed north I believe

This may look like a hard job, just know Troy is happy that he has he dry wadders

Ya know there is a 2nd pair of wadders you can put on and help.  Notice the broken old pier on the right.

Missing pictures is Steve and Troy fixing the ski dock, Troy says it is straighter than it has been in years thanks to Steve helping to lift it.  Apparently Steve is better at lifting heavy docks and better to work with than the photographer.  Fine with me, I will take a paint brush and scraper over wadders and cold water anyday

Time for a little dock work with the temps soaring to a balmy 60 degrees

You know it is not time to pull out the bathing suits when Troy is wearing a winter hat along with the wadders

Olja enjoying the show from the sidelines.

This picture is why I take pictures and do not have wadders on

Who would the winner of the leaky wadders be this year….  That would be Troy…  2nd reason I take pictures and do not get in the water in the wadders.  Hey Craig pick up a new set of wadders when you pass by Fleet Farm on the way through from Georgia

Railroad ties where the project of the day

After 40 years they do have to be replaced.  The stairwell at Red Pine got some much needed TLC

One more fix it item off the list.  Problem is more has been added

Photo credits go to Troy for agreeing to take the camera down to Red Pine andn more importantly to actually remember to take the camera out and snap a few pics.  He was just happy to be behind the camera instead of having his picutre being taken

Once in awhile the inspiration for pictures and writing is not there or following up the loon pics from last week just can’t be matched.  It was beautiful painting weather on Friday in the 80’s and since then the rain has hit.  The green boats have made it off the stack and painting has started

John Deere Green paint… now waiting for a drier day to continue to paint.  The raft got its first coat of paint with the white, now on to the orange.  I hear we are getting dry weather by Tuesday.

The wet weather has given the guys time to get the woodshed full with all their split wood from winter.

One more pile left outside.  It should find its way into the shed over the next few days

With all this interesting things going you can see why I was stretching it to come up with a blog entry the last few days…  Sunny warmer weather will bring the camera out more.  Especially for a trip to Cedar Falls by the end of the week for the Muskie, Northern, Sucker spawn to see the big fish.  Wanna have a great reason to come to the Northwoods over the next week or 2 that is for a trip to Cedar Falls it is one of my favorite spring events.

Just picked up a new GPS for the summer for Geo Caching so I am sure there will be a few new adventures in the works complete with ticks, getting lost and anyother strange thing we can run into on a geo adventure

I looked out off the hill this morning and was happy to see both loons fishing in the middle of the lake

It was a hard shot to get with full sun and loons in the middle of the lake.  This was the best I could get.  They were yodeling and fishing on the sunken island

After 3 days of snow, I was going to make this the only picture on the blog today.  As I was taking this picture I heard the sound of a loon and dashed down to the lake for the pics below

Just when we needed a reminder that it was spring the loons came back.  So far we have only spotted this one.  The pair on the lake we have seen the last few years is tagged so as the summer goes on we will see if this is one of the regular pair or a lone loon looking for a friend.  It may just be a passing through loon

Would you believe me if I told you a giant ape had been captured and brought to the resort.  He escaped and climbed to the top of the tallest tree….. In sandbox land that and much more is going on.  It is nice to see the ice and snow leave and summer fun start..  even if it comes with monkeys in the trees

The crack that ran down the middle of the lake expanded and broke off with a wind behind it and headed directly into our shoreline

Time to head out our annual canoe ice ramming expedition

This newest line of ice did some major damage.  This is not a good sight

Our trail left in the ice

Ski shack still showing signs of the tree demolition this winter… what will it look like when the guys are done rebuilding and redesigning it….. wait to see

We caught this Pine Sisken below our bird feeders.  It was wandering around and not flying off.  We knew something was up.  Over the past week we have found 4 dead birds around our feeders.  We took this bird for a ride up to the Northwoods Wildlife Hospital.  It died the next morning.  I was told they have seen a lot of song birds like this on in the last week or so that have contraced salmanilla from old or dirty seed.  I was told it was probably not my feeder but along the way up North migrating this bird stopped and picked it up from other feeders.  It takes about a week for them to die once the contract it.  There is little to nothing the Center can do but make them feel comfortable.  They can pick salmanilla up from old feed, the stuff at the bottom of the feeder that nobody likes to clean out.  My feeders just got a good cleaning and put it on the list of things I need to do once in awhile.

Hope to not find anymore dead birds today

I stopped to take this picture of the sunset on ice.  Troy says “oh you stopped to take a picture of the eagle”  Good thing he has good eyes or you would only have the sunset to appreciate

Eagle surveying the newly open water

Enjoy and thank Troy
