After working hard for over 30 years, Jim and Nancy put an offer in today on a lot in Hazelhurst.  Goodbye Milwaukee, crime and traffic…. hello woods, peace and quiet!  Congrats to Jim and Nancy from Poe and the rest of your friends at the Cliff.  See ya at the Basketball games

Retirement is looking good

Ron enjoying summer at the lake.  Does it get anymore relaxing?

Nope

At the same time we had the Landes trying to start a motor from the 1950’s.  This test of marriage I can say went very well and the motor eventually started.  He got the motor for free from a neighbor and tinkered with it til it started.  A successful tour of the lake was made

Whenever Earl is in my driveway I know someone is not having a good vacation.  He is the best tow truck driver in the Northwoods.  He has pulled every member of the Black family out of a ditch or flipped over at some point.  Katie’s teen years driving, Earl had Craig’s number on speed dial

Earl saving another vacation heading one of the Menaker cars off to the repair shop

This may cause undue stress to a few people at work who have the itch to head up north, to those I say sorry

I have 2 cabins where people are leaving early this week and the next group is coming in late

Birchwood is open Fri and Saturday

Kaubashine is open Thursday til Monday leaving Monday

Give a call if interested and I will see what I can do on the rate based on number of people and number of nights.

10 years of competing against each other but both sides got together for a friendly pic.  A few were missing this year from both sides.  Black’s Cliff was outfitted glow stick wraps around their ankles for a cool night time look and Hilltop showed up in Life Preservers to Sink or Swim.  Everyone had a good time….  was there a score…..  I am sure, but we shall leave that a mystery in the camaraderie that it has created between the 2 resorts

Every year the Hilltop Crew shows up at Black’s Cliff with a new theme.  This year it was life preservers and this sign.  It is always interesting to see what they come up with.  My favorite was the year they had capes and were all super heroes

The Black’s Cliff look this year, neon wraps was a neat addition to the night time game

Game on

Black’s Cliff brought out their secret weapons, The Williams Sisters, Collete and Nancy who had the spin going on the ball

After a few drinks, Hilltop brought out their own secret weapon from volleyball retirement.

Black’s Cliff countered by bringing out Dr. Phil and his wine glass (aka Mike) to the front line

Hilltop had quite a cheering section doing some form of line dancing – cheering

In the end much fun was had…. til 2010 when we meet again

There was a different smell wafting from Shamrock.  It was Friday and use up all the left over night with a smorgasbord in Shamrock.  Tim found a way of using up a left over I never would have thought of Dark Chocolate and Bacon Cupcakes.  Before you go Ewwww, let me tell you they were delicious

Cliff had to come out of the closet and give his endorsement of them too.  Tim had to cut Cliff off from the cupcakes.  Want something unusual to serve that will have people talking give them a try

Ellen Eberle enjoying wireless internet from Kaubashine’s porch.  Watch what you wish for… now you can not tell work honestly that your are unreachable by computer at Black’s Cliff.  The scenery from the computer though is priceless along with comfy shoes

Ellen wished for 2 things, wireless internet and not to cook for dinner…  Jim went a little over board

Seriously think there was enough for dinner?  Watch what you wish for you never know when you might get it.  You can keep dreaming about a dishwasher in Kaubashine, that I can say will not happen, that is why they created kids

Started to feel more like summer this week with temps cracking the 80 degree mark.  The lake temp is another story.  Everyone hit the beach for a busy beach week

Raft was the place to be.  Question is how many people before it submerges.  The banana boat was used for hours by the 12 – 10 year olds.  King of the Banana Boat was the name of the game

Nobody stayed King for long

Then there were those experiencing Lower Kaubashine for the first time and happy to just sit in their Aunts lap

For all internet junkies out there, we just hit the button for wireless internet and it is up and working!

It is not highspeed and it is not broadcasted through the whole resort.  we set up a router for our aircard and are broadcasting out to the playground and I hear Birchwood falls under the umbrella.  The cedar swing in the front yard is going to become the internet hotspot.  On rainy days if you pull up in your car in front of the office you should be able to pass hours away.

This is especially for all those facebook farmtown junkies out there and you know who you are.  No more crops going to waste while on vacation

Young loons are just like young teenage humans, they love to gather and see what trouble they can get into.  This group of 6 loons was spotted on the lake 2 weeks ago by the Tempel family.  Unfortunately they did not have their camera with.  Happily they returned on a fishing expedition.  I am assuming the pair we have on the lake is not mixed up in this bunch.  These are most likely unpaired juvenilles who like to gather and go from lake to lake checking out the realestate

Definitely fishing.  I can guarantee the fish are scattering at this point

Heading off into the sunset discussing where to head to next

This blog entry brought to you by the new kayak’s we just added to the resort.  This trip out to see the loons was their inaugural trip onto Lower Kaubashine

More things swimming around in Lower Kaubashine.  This 26 inch Walleye caught without lanterns and leaches was caught in the middle of the afternoon.  A nice surprise

This 17 inch bass was also fun to catch

Smiles all around in the Duffes family.  Thanks to them for sharing their great fishing pictures
